Google Developing Wikipedia Rival

Google’s ‘knol’ project is touted as a potential Wikipedia rival: critical bloggers fear that Google is moving to an advertising-driven model that will compromise the independence of its search queries, and in-entry advertising by authors. The ‘knol’ screenshots suggest Google is applying its knowledge of usability, schemas to organise information, and expert-driven rankings to Wikipedia’s open encyclopedia model.
