Bloggers Rejoice as the First ‘Facebook Prisoner’ is Freed

Mike Nizza reports on the NY Times Lede:

“Following outrage from human rights groups and bloggers, King Mohammed VI of Morocco has reportedly pardoned a man sentenced to three years in prison for a prank that has become commonplace around the Web: creating a fake Facebook profile of the king’s brother, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid.”

One blogger wrote: “Reason has prevailed. Fouad Mourtada, the young engineer who had been sentenced to three years of prison for having usurped the identity of prince Moulay Rachid on Facebook, was finally released. It is for me the best news.”
