Neopaganism Growing Quickly

Posted by JacobSloan on June 30, 2008

A story which gets relatively thin media coverage is the survival and spread of paganism; in the United States, Canada and Europe, the number of modern pagans doubles every eighteen months. The Denver Post reports on its city’s thriving Neopagan scene, from in-demand prison outreach to coffee house-community centers. The surge in interest is attributed to “people, especially teens rejecting what they see as the ‘autocracy, paternalism, sexism, homophobia and insensitivity to the environment’ of more traditional religions.” The robes and gold lamé are also a big draw.
