6 Top-Secret Aircraft that are Mistaken for UFOs
The CIA estimates that more than half of the UFOs reported in the 1950s and 1960s were really American spy planes. Here are six (no longer) secret aircraft that people have mistaken for extraterrestrial flying saucers.

Iranian Woman Demands Attacker’s Eye
TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) — Ameneh Bahrami is certain that one day she’ll meet someone, fall in love and get married. But when her wedding day comes, her husband won’t see her eyes, and she won’t see her husband. Bahrami is blind, the victim of an acid attack by a spurned suitor.
If she gets her way, her attacker will suffer the same fate. The 31-year-old Iranian is demanding the ancient punishment of “an eye for an eye,” and, in accordance with Islamic law, she wants to blind Majid Movahedi, the man who blinded her.
“I don’t want to blind him for revenge,” Bahrami said in her parents’ Tehran apartment. “I’m doing this to prevent it from happening to someone else.”
Boy Marries Dog To Ward Off Tiger Attacks
BHUBANESWAR, India (Reuters) – An infant boy was married off to his neighbors’ dog in eastern India by villagers, who said it will stop the groom from being killed by wild animals, officials and witnesses said on Wednesday.
Around 150 tribespeople performed the ritual recently in a hamlet in the state of Orissa’s Jajpur district after the boy, who is under two years old, grew a tooth on his upper gum.
The Munda tribe see such a growth in young children as a bad omen and believe it makes them prone to attacks by tigers and other animals. The tribal god will bless the child and ward off evil spirits after the marriage.
Burglary Suspect Trips on Fallen Pants; Nabbed!
A Florida burglary suspect, fleeing the scene of a robbery, was easily caught by police after he tripped when his pants fell down.
New York Post Depiction
I think, to be quite honest that many white people seem more apelike in appearance than black people. Note the thin lips, low and hairy brow, and pink colored faces. Please don’t tell me that this is offensive, because this is supposed to be cute and funny. Should I depict George W. Bush as a complete and total devil? That is what he looks like to me…should I post it in the New York Post and wait for a tongue-n-cheek interpretation from the readers…who may not get it? Do you think anyone would be offended? Why should they? It is just light hearted fun right?
Banks Use Bailout Money For Effort To Limit Consumer Rights
So, what are Bank of America, AIG, and the other recipients of TARP funds doing with the billions and billions given to them by taxpayers?
The CEOs are using them to organize a massive anti-consumer lobbying effort aiming to kill bills including the Arbitration Fairness Act, the Credit Card Holders Bill of Rights, the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act, the Helping Families Save Their Homes in Bankruptcy Act, and, of course, the TARP Reform and Accountability Act (which holds TARP recipients accountable for how they spend taxpayers’ money).
The strategizing is being done in meetings held at a $530/night retreat on the Gulf of Mexico, paid for, again, by taxpayers. Three days after receiving their TARP funds, Bank of America used the money to team with the head of Home Depot to begin a push to sway elections and defeat bills protecting workers.

What Finding Alien Life Could Mean for Earth
Imagine that tomorrow morning scientists tell the world they’ve found evidence for a colony of aliens living only 35 million miles from Earth.
Do you think your neighbors would wig out – stocking up on Ramen noodles, and secluding themselves and the family schnauzer in the basement? Or do you believe most folks would simply mutter “whatever,” and go back to checking out new Facebook friends?
The question’s not altogether fatuous, because this kind of discovery could happen soon, thanks to the efforts of astrobiologists – researchers who study the origin, nature and distribution of life.
Although we still haven’t found any biological activity elsewhere, it’s hardly inconceivable that before your car gets its next oil change, robot spacecraft could discover a horde of microbes hidden beneath the Martian sands. Or maybe a few years down the road, some astrobiology experiment will stumble across alien pond scum floating in Titan’s rime-frosted lakes,…
Taliban Hates Infidels, Loves iPhone
Everybody is excited about the convenience and sleek style of the iPhone, including Taliban officials like Mullah Zaif.
In his home on the outskirts of Kabul, he tells Al Jazeera reporter Hamish Macdonald, “I’m addicted…the internet is great on this, very fast.”
Ironically, the Taliban banned television, computers, and music while it ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001. Just imagine the apps they must be working on.
Group Sex, Trysts Without Condoms Fuel Raging HIV in Asian Men
Group sex and low condom use among gay and bisexual men are spreading HIV rapidly in Asia, making male-to-male intercourse the region’s fastest-growing means of transmitting the deadly virus, health officials said.
New cases of human immunodeficiency virus have surged in Asian cities such as Bangkok, where more than 30 percent of gay and bisexual men now have the AIDS-causing infection, said Frits van Griensven, who’s tracking the epidemic in Asia for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“We’re really in for big trouble,” Griensven said at a meeting of health officials in Hong Kong yesterday. “There’s still time to do something, but we need to act rapidly.”
Karl Rove: Team Obama Is Winging It
Team Obama demonstrated remarkable discipline during the presidential campaign. From raising an unprecedented amount of money to milking every advantage from the Internet to grabbing lots of delegates from inexpensive caucus states, they left nothing to chance.
And now the administration has scored a major legislative victory in an extraordinarily short period of time. Less than 700 hours after taking the oath of office, President Barack Obama signed the largest spending bill in American history.
Nevertheless, this fast start can’t overcome a growing sense the administration is winging it on issues large and small.
EU Court Attacks GM Crop Secrecy
Europe’s top court has ruled that EU governments have no right to conceal the location of field trials of genetically modified (GM) crops. The European Court of Justice was responding to a case brought by Pierre Azelvandre in Alsace, eastern France.
He wanted to know where GM field trials had taken place in his local area. The only EU-approved GM crop is a strain of corn developed by the US firm Monsanto. But GM trials for research are legal, under strict controls.
The court in Luxembourg ruled on Tuesday that “information relating to the location of the release can in no case be kept confidential”. It said “considerations relating to the protection of public order and other secrets protected by law… cannot constitute reasons capable of restricting access to the information listed by the [EU] directive, including in particular those relating to the location of release”.
On Monday, the European Commission failed in…
Day 3 of The Trial: The Pirate Bay’s ‘King Kong’ Defense
enigmax, TorrentFreak: The Pirate Bay trial is moving forward rapidly and again the day in court has ended early. On the third day the prosecution presented the amended charges. The defendants all called for acquittal while Carl Lundström’s lawyer scored points with the already legendary ‘King Kong’ defense.
The third day of the trial started with prosecutor Håkan Roswall who presented his updated/amended charges to the Court, taking into consideration the developments of yesterday (50% charges removed). He characterized these amendments as a “small change”.
The defense lawyers responded saying, “We don’t agree that this is just a small adjustment of the claims, but we’ll return to the matter later.”
According to IFPI’s Peter Danowsky, the damages claimed from The Pirate Bay are the same as if the site had ‘legally’ obtained licenses to distribute the music world-wide, regardless of whether all the downloaders had later decided to buy the music or not.…
NY Post Cartoon Depicts Shooting The Obama Ape?

Nicole Belle, Crooks and Liars: Cartoonist Sean Delonas of the Murdoch-owned NY Post is under fire for a cartoon published today depicting two police officers shooting a chimpanzee. According to Think Progress, the incident was inspired by a pet chimp attacking a woman in Connecticut.
But Delonas’ caption reads, “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.”, tying the chimp to Obama’s recent signing of the Economic Recovery Bill.
The Rev. Al Sharpton says a New York Post cartoon that appears to link President Obama to a violent chimpanzee is “troubling at best.”
The cartoon in Wednesday’s Post by Sean Delonas shows a dead chimp and two police officers, one with a smoking gun. The caption reads, “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.”
Sharpton called the cartoon offensive and divisive. The Post had no immediate comment.
UPDATE: NY Times: A newsroom employee at The Post, who spoke on condition…
Beer Bottle Bhuddist Temple of Khun Han
Daily Mail, UK: Built using more than a million beer bottles, this incredible temple in the north-east of Thailand is a novel way to recycle any empties.
The resident Buddhist monks at the Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew complex encourage local authorities to deposit any used bottles at the temple which they then use to build new structures.

‘Even though drinking is a sin in Buddhism, this still seems like a positive use of beer and lager bottles’ said one tourist at the site.
Representing the cleansing of the human mind, the beer-bottle-temple is now on an approved list of eco-friendly sightseeing tours in South-East Asia.
