Tent Cities Grow Steadily
MSNBC looks at a burgeoning tent city in Sacramento. As the economy worsens, tent communities are springing up around the country; this one has 1,200 residents and is growing by 50 per week. It sprouted up in almost the exact same location along the American River as one which was inhabited by homeless transplanted Tennesseans during the Great Depression. Meanwhile, foreclosed homes sit empty.
