It is by Cindy Meston, a clinical psychologist, and David Buss, an evolutionary psychologist. It is a very thick, bulging book. I’ve never really wondered Why Women Have Sex. Meston and Buss have interviewed 1,006 women from all over the world about their sexual motivation, and in doing so they have identified 237 different reasons why women have sex. Not 235. Not 236. If artist Evan Hayden ever wants to be your friend, think twice. Sure, his robot art is jarring and beautiful, and he lives in a world of dolls gone wrong. But he also covers his friends with metallic body paint.
Oh, and a couple of these images may be a tad NSFW (mostly just images #14 and #16).
We caught up with Hayden at an art show on Friday, and we were blown away by his images of weird robots, dolls, transformers gone awry and strange mutations. We were even more amazed when he told us that his friends served as the model for all of these pictures (except when he models himself.) We asked Hayden more about his work, and here’s what he told us:

In a manner chillingly reminiscent of the Bush administration’s buildup to the Iraq war, top White House officials yesterday intensified the US propaganda offensive against Iran, threatening heavy sanctions if Tehran does not provide unrestricted access to its newly revealed uranium enrichment plant near the city of Qom and other nuclear facilities and personnel.
Interviewed on separate Sunday television programs, Defence Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton both painted the Qom revelations in the most sinister terms. If the “illicit nuclear facility” had been for peaceful nuclear purposes, Gates declared, “there’s no reason to put it so deep underground, no reason to be deceptive about it, keep it a… secret for a protracted period of time.”

Poland Okays Forcible Castration For Pedophiles

WARSAW (Reuters) – Poland on Friday approved a law making chemical castration mandatory for pedophiles in some cases, sparking criticism from human rights groups.
Under the law, sponsored by Poland’s center-right government, pedophiles convicted of raping children under the age of 15 years or a close relative would have to undergo chemical therapy on their release from prison.
“The purpose of this action is to improve the mental health of the convict, to lower his libido and thereby to reduce the risk of another crime being committed by the same person,” the government said in a statement.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said late last year he wanted obligatory castration for pedophiles, whom he branded ‘degenerates’. Tusk said he did not believe “one can use the term ‘human’ for such individuals, such creatures.”

Georgia Mom Can’t Stop Harry Potter

A judge in Gwinnett County denied, on Tuesday, a Loganville woman’s request to remove the Harry Potter books from the Gwinnett County Public Schools.
Laura Mallory argued, during the hearing that preceded the ruling, that the books are harmful to children and unconstitutionally promote a religion.
Worse, she said, is that when school children read the books as part of class work, she can provide examples that the books often encourage children, as early as in the Second Grade, to practice witchcraft and convert to the Wicca religion.
“This violates our rights of freedom of religion,” Mallory told reporters after the judge ruled against her, because, she said, Judeo Christian religions are banned from the classroom and “because this other religion is being, you know, spoon-fed to our children.”

Did Hitler Escape From the Bunker?

The four-inch skull fragment has a hole where a bullet reportedly passed through Hitler’s left temple when he shot himself and is kept in Russia’s federal archives along with what are said to be his jawbones. Together, they are all that is left of Hitler’s body, the charred remains of which Soviet forces first recovered in 1945. For years, the Russians have held up the artefacts as proof that Soviet troops found Hitler’s body in the ruins of Berlin and that he died on April 30 when he shot himself just after taking cyanide.
But a History Channel documentary programme broadcast in the US called Hitler’s Escape claims the skull fragment belongs to a woman under 40 and not Hitler, who was 56 when he died. Don’t Blame Flu Shots for All Ills, Officials Say
Is this propaganda designed to derail the widespread public distrust as to what’s actually in the new flu vaccines and what they might do to our bodies? Or is that just paranoid? My vote is that it is propaganda but whether or not it’s for nefarious purposes I’m not so sure. Comments?

OKLAHOMA CITY — Long-secret security tapes showing the chaos immediately after the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building are blank in the minutes before the blast and appear to have been edited, an attorney who obtained the recordings said Sunday. “The real story is what’s missing,” said Jesse Trentadue, a Salt Lake City attorney who obtained the recordings through the federal Freedom of Information Act as part of an unofficial inquiry he is conducting into the April 19, 1995, bombing that killed 168 people and injured hundreds more.

DARPA Wants Ideas For Cleaning Up Outer Space

James Hollopeter of GIT Satellite has a plan for getting rid of orbiting junk. He wants to launch rocket-loads of water into space to create a liquid wall for debris to slam into, so the pieces can slow down and eventually drop out of orbit.
Launched on ballistic flight paths that quickly re-enter the atmosphere, the water wouldn’t add to the debris problem, unlike some other proposals to clean up space. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency known as DARPA wants to hear about them all.
The agency last week issued a request for ideas to clean up orbital debris, a problem that has skyrocketed since China intentionally blew up a defunct satellite as part of a weapons test in 2007 and the orbital collision of two communications spacecraft earlier this year.

Bill Clinton Asserts The ‘Vast Right Wing Conspiracy’ Is Now Targeting Obama

WASHINGTON — Bill Clinton says a vast, right-wing conspiracy that once targeted him is now focusing on President Barack Obama.
The ex-president made the comment in a television interview when he was asked about one of the signature moments of the Monica Lewinsky affair over a decade ago. Back then, first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton used the term “vast, right-wing conspiracy” to describe how her husband’s political enemies were out to destroy his presidency.
Bill Clinton was asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” whether the conspiracy is still there. He replied: “You bet. Sure it is. It’s not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically. But it’s as virulent as it was.”
Clinton said that this time around, the focus is on Obama and “their agenda seems to be wanting him to fail.”
Australian Town Becomes First to Ban Bottled Water
Bundanoon on Saturday became the first town in Australia, and possibly the world, to ban the sale of bottled water. The 2,500 residents voted in July to stop shops from stocking single-use bottles and switch to retailing bottles that are refillable for free at taps around the town.
“As politicians grapple with the issue of climate change, we should never forget that each and every one of us can make a real difference at the very local level,” shopowner Huw Kingston told local paper the Southern Highland News.
“As was demonstrated by the intense media interest from all around the world, it’s extremely heartening that our small town has become an international role model for grassroots action.”
The tourist town of Bundanoon, 120 kilometres south of Sydney, showed it was fun to be green by putting on a parade and a party for the switchover.
