There's no one better to do this than the hack Roland Emmerich. Doomsday prophesies are sensational and sell well so the real scholarly perspectives that could add a sobering and maybe more honest and realistic view on the Mayan end date get lost in the mix. I've personally found a lot of value from reading J. Major Jenkins book 'Maya Cosmogenesis'. There's alot of great books from different scholars that are worth reading I'm told. I like Jenkins approach of using the evidence as he examines it and combine it with the Mayan mythology and astrology to offer a hypothesis that seems a lot more probable than the street corner psycho yelling, 'It's the end of the world". It's not the end of the world for god's sakes. The date may perhaps be significant for the current state of humanity however. Evolution of consciousness?
