Lightsabers can be made dangerous, if that is in question. Adding a shock such as a Taser type shock would be VERY LIGHTSABER BATTLE. Very easily done with a positive & negative eletromagnetic Dual BEAM.

No he doesn't. Those are collectors replicas of the actual lightsabers in Star Wars. He never actually builds one, he just proposes how one could be built.

plasma beam being held in place by a “magnetic bottle”. it would cut through most anything, and the magnetic bottle would repel energy weapons and other sabers…simple really, but the power source needed would require you to carry around a box-car size battery, or reactor…

You could create a reflective disc that was held in place at the tip of the sword with the same “tractor beam” technology that sucked the Millenium Falcon into the Death Star in Ep. 4. This reflective disc retracts into the handle when the sword is shut off, and extends to the tip of the sword when it is turned on. This would keep the blade from being any longer than it is, and the laser light would then return to the generator, where it would need to be absorbed somehow.

The only problem with this is that you couldn't stab with the sword…only slash, since the tip wouldn't be made of light. Now if you could come up with some kind of reflective force field that would reflect the light, but allow matter to pass through…you'd have something that could stab perhaps. But the tip of the sword would look like a mirror…not the color of the sword.
