However, I am pretty convinced that 4Chan is a site of possibility for a new civic participation--- or should we say a mobilization of minds against the oppressive state of contemporary oligarchical civil society. I look at 4chan as a body of people concentrated on doing away with law and the control of the financial elite over the political sphere through very tailored and focused assaults on the pillars of the internet google, twitter, facebook, etc. This campaign is restricted to the realm of the internet, or is it? Time will tell. Limiting their ability to raise the fury of the oppressed, 4Chan is primarily accessed by a narrow slice of the human population--- people with access to computers/ the internet. Many of the 4Chan population are also incredibly adept at using advanced internet and computer technologies. So, if we extend structural sociological theories to this assessment, 4Chan is statistically likely to be predominantly white men and therefore composed of an already privileged status-group. In order to bring about structural change, and potentially to ensure the survival of their community, 4Chan users must extend their human capital to disenfranchised populations.
