“Discovered in 1947 by Bedouin tribesmen in caves…” which are not exactly close to Jordan and occurred well within the British mandate of Palestine, which was then quickly sold on the black market by said Bedouins for as much money as they could get, and then was painstakingly reacquired through the black market by Israeli archeologists who hoped the scrolls hadn't been ruined by being chopped up in a bunch of pieces. Considering that they are entirely ancient Jewish sectarian scrolls that mostly record ancient versions of the bible and sectarian texts, the only reason the Jordanians want them is to put them back under wraps.
