Jonathan D. Salant writes in Bloomberg via Yahoo News:

Just 8 percent of Americans want the members of Congress re-elected, according to a CBS News-New York Times poll taken nine months before roughly one-third of the Senate and the entire House face voters.

The Feb. 5–10 survey found 81 percent of respondents saying the lawmakers shouldn’t receive another term. By 80 percent to 13 percent, Americans said members of Congress are more interested in serving special interests than the people they represent.

Also, 75 percent disapproved of the job Congress is doing, the highest level since 74 percent said they disapproved in October 2008. Congress’s job approval rating was 15 percent in the current survey; it was 12 percent in October 2008.

Half of those surveyed said they wanted to abolish the filibuster in the U.S. Senate, the procedural move by which bills can be stalled unless 60 lawmakers vote to shut off debate, while 44 percent disagreed.

The problem with this kind of thing is the lack of specificity. “ALL” of Congress are not problem children.

Some of the people in Congress have been working very hard for us. The Dems in the Congress have passed everything we've wanted.

But the Repukes in the Senate and any mushy Dem like Harry Reid or Dianne Feinstein, Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Joe Liebermush…. those douchebags need to go.

The Republicans have no interest in governing, and those particular DINO's have no spine.

We need actual, real live Liberals in there who will just pass the needed measures by any means necessary. Got to kill the filibuster? Kill it already. Have to pass everything by reconciliation? Fine.

    JUST DO IT.

Are you telling us that as many as 8% of americans are mentally retarded? Who are these people, who refuse to see just how far down the road to hell that a bloated, corrupted, incompetent Congress has shoved us? Maybe they work for Congressmen.

even if every incumbent was voted out, nothing would change,
our political systems is designed so that corruption is required to advance beyond podunk city council.

Hah. Yeah, they don't want the representatives in OTHER states/districts back, but they'll wind up keeping their own due to all the Fed money they bring in locally. Massachusetts famously kept Ted around although his record as a senator, while nothing to sneeze at, was not as important as his last name and what he did for Mass. Once he was beyond voting against, Mass went redneck on us and voted their state back into the stone age.
