Oh Jesus, give me a break. The notion that cannabis CAUSES schizophrenia has been debunked. Studies show no causation.
Also, as most psychiatrists will tell you, schizophrenia is an ingrained disease that you either have or don’t. Drugs/substances cannot cause it.

Actually thc is considered a stimulant, depressant as well as psychedelic. It affects everyone in different ways. I myself have had all three effects and I do believe I had a few new ones!

I do agree about the alcohol as well as the healing properties of thc.

First and foremost, just because you can't put it under a microscope does not in any way make mental illness any less an illness than those which can be seen in microscopic view. That is an ignorant point of view. I'll just call this the ignorant 1840's way of thinking comment of the month… Second, opium, PCP and cocain cost as much, if not WAY more, per gram as a whole ounce of weed. Any dealer putting a few grams of hard drugs to fatten a bag of weed would be screwing himself pretty bad, don't you think? (of course you don't think! You wouldn't have said that if you did! LMAO!) Third… cannabinoids do not work like alcohol… In fact few drugs do. Cannabinoids work on everyone's cannabinoid receptors in the brain about the same with nothing but tolerance as a variable. Larger bodies may take longer(like 40 seconds) to peak on the buzz but it's all gonna hit a 300 lb person same as a 90 lb person.

First and foremost, schizophrenia is what you call a “fake illness,” because it belongs to that branch of disease known as “mental illness,” which cannot be put under a microscope like AIDS, Ebola, or even swine flu. Furthermore, I agree with jerrry: the kid's probably smoking either shitty quality cannabis or it's laced with something (opium, PCP, cocaine, or adulterants to enhance weight for sale). And just as well, maybe the kid isn't predisposed to weed physiologically in the way a fat person is physiologically predisposed to alcohol, so his body just can't cope with all those cannabinoids at once. Does the doc address any of those issues, I wonder?

That would mean a huge percentage of the population would be schizophrenic, especially in places like Jamaica, Amsterdam, Canada, California, etc. Drug companies scared by competition from mother nature? The paranoia comes from cultural conditioning and drug laws, IMO.

That is another great point. This individual could have very well been genetically predisposed to mental illness. Many use marijuana to treat mental illness. I've got a buddy who managed to come off of three prescription meds in exchange for a twice daily dose of some fine cannabis.

This is just as big of a conspiracy as any other money making scam over the past 60 or so years.

First off… Marijuana is not a psychedelic, it is considered a stimulant. Second, I have known thousands of potheads…NONE had symptoms that resemble schizophrenia. However, I have known thousands of alcohol consumers and MANY developed symptoms of addiction. Some have died from alcohol related incidents. My friends liver completely crapped out on him and he's dead.

Don't buy into this bogus BS story. There is good stuff on this site but don't take this at face value. However, do take seriously the claims that people have used cannabinoids and thc to cure various illnesses including cancer. DO THE RESEARCH FRIENDS

Professor David Nutt, the ex-head of the UK government think tank on drugs stated that it would take stopping between 2000 and 5000 young men from regularly smoking weed to prevent 1 case of cannabis-induced schizophrenia. He was fired soon after publicly releasing these facts.

All research I've come across suggests that marijuana, as well as other psychedelics, can only bring about latent schizophrenia. Further, researchers agree that psychedelics bring about schizophrenia that would have presented itself regardless, acting only as a catalyst for it.
