A group of North Koreans have been risking their  lives secretly filming within the regime’s borders. Smuggling tapes across the Chinese border, they hopes to expose the condition of North Korean life to a global audience. From The Telegraph:

    If a video like this were set in the US, UK, Israel, or any other Western (or vaguely Western) nation, many people on this site would believe it in an instant. Why is it hard to accept that North Korea really is just this bad?

    because it comes at a time when western governments desperately want strong anti NK feeling.
    past track record of outright lies taints anything that seems to support the government line.

    Why is it that every time I see a video from totalitarian police states like China and North Korea, there is always some citizen arguing with a police officer… and NOT getting beat down? The cop always seems to just sit there and take it. I don’t know, maybe they wait until after the cameras are off then drag them in an alley and shoot them? All I know is, if that was America and that lady was placing her hands on a cop like that, she’d have been tased and tackled to the ground by five 250-pounds gorillas within seconds… is this some kind of Asian cultural difference in how police respond, or are they just keeping the really totalitarian stuff away from the camera’s eye?

    Give me a fucking break, Hadrian999 et al. Yes, just like the Christmas Tree Bomber is nothing but a patsy, and terrorism isn’t real. /sar

    Seriously, all of you need to take off your hate-the-West caps for just one friggin’ minute and realize you can hate the West all day long and still have a North Korea, a nation known, demonstrably to be dangerous and bereft of concern for human rights.

    Sure, these things may be very real AND Western governments may be capitalizing on them, simultaneously, to control populations. But then you must ask yourself: Where would you rather live, and do you really, TRULY believe that if only our society weren’t the way it is that a North Korea wouldn’t exist?

    PLEASE.

    no only explaining that our governments past actions make it nearly impossible to believe anything they say.
    but beyond that the xmas tree bomber was being stage managed by the fbi for juicy headlines to fire up the persecuted christians folk. terrorism is real but it has been staged managed by government agencies around the world to maintain their control
