Cop Arrests Man For Disagreeing With Him

Obvious case of a cop with anger management issues. I hear this is endemic for cops. Which makes me wonder what kind of people are attracted to that profession in the first place and if the academies which train them need to do better psychological evaluations before admission.

i used to work private security, never wanted to be a cop, it was just a job. I did work with a bunch of guys dieing to be cops who had been to the academy and were waiting for openings…..many of them had serious rage and power issues

Pretty sure the camera was turned on after initial contact with the officer, he seems to have paperwork with him that’s already filled out. The passenger simply did not like the fact that he was being called an idiot.

Having an opinion and having documented evidence that further affirms that opinion are two different things.

No brutatlity, just an ‘I’ve had enough of your lip, mate’. Single cop dealing with two guys devoid of any respect for authority. Being fined. Take it on the chin. Defused the situation. Video shows only a very small portion of the overall exchange. C’mon. Show us some real abuse of power. Leave the poor cop alone. He seemed quite restrained.

People seem to think that talking back to a police officer is an offense. You can disagree with an officer. You have the right to do so.

I had a cop come speeding down the road outside my residence at 7am on a Saturday and almost hit me as I came out of my driveway going less than 10 miles an hour. He passed around a garbage truck too fast, didn’t look carefully enough, and so he had to slam on his brakes to avoid me – because he was going too fast.

So he pulled me over and rather than apologizing for scaring the crap out of me that early in the morning and almost broadsiding me, he ticketed me. For what?

Going too fast.

The thing he himself was guilty of.

And because had I just started a new job, and simply didn’t have the time to waste going to court, losing a day’s pay, etc., I just paid the ticket, but I shouldn’t have had to tolerate that egotistical nonsense from him in the first place.

He just got embarrassed in front of his partner, and instead of being a man and accepting personal responsibility, he decided to project his own screwup onto me.

Ideally, something akin to “Sainthood” would be required for a “good cop” to exist. Strange why they keep letting those humans into the mix. Oh yeah, we’re all human. There are no particularly morally superior individuals who qualify. Cops are not “special” people underneath the badge. The job itself requires a person to accept a certain level of hypocrisy just to slap on the uniform and weapon.
The job is socially isolating because no one really trusts you exept family and other cops. The job itself tends to attract people who were already socially isolated for whatever reasons. This insular attitude, the gun and badge
tend to only amplify the condition.

To those who feel this cop was only slightly out of line or that these people were to blame, I ask this:

Has your sense of freedom and personal sovereignty been so far neutered that this doesn’t offend you? Being arrested is humiliating, emasculating, and awfully inconvenient. Although the most angering, physical violence isn’t the only form of police abuse. This is police abuse in another form, the abuse of authority.

This is an emerging issue that WILL be addressed. As a people we can strip police of their sense of elitism through public outcry. Forward these videos, call upon on your local legal representatives. Technology has brought an enormous challenge to the previously unbeatable police prospective in court. Cameras have brought about a new age in the defense of those who abuse their power, especially with police officers. The police our own OUR payroll. We must never grow used to police manipulating their authority. We need to monitor those we “chose” to POLICE our daily lives with the utmost diligence.

Don’t grow weary or hopeless, these individuals will be held accountable as more videos come out. Being arrested for the slightest thing, including talking back to an officer, is simply unacceptable in a free society.

then you make it so that those who wish to be police must pass more rigorous testing, including moral education, education of the constitution and such

imagine if our culture valued the mind instead of athletic ability, good cops would be making mad money as well as teachers who teach well, then we incentivise the most important jobs in society, instead of making it so glorified to throw a fucking ball in a hoop

first off his mistake was getting out of the car. police view that as a threat to their safety and well being and was well within the law to arrest this man. any one else who says other wise should read a law book

You got it right with the three charges you mentioned. These cops are breaking the law and who is policing them? What does IA say about all of this? The district Attorneys are horrible too cause they don’t ever look at some of these cases and say you know what, this is nonsense. Then they become private attorney’s and all of a sudden they can’t stand all of the corruption and harrassment on the parts of the police. Such a vicious and dangerous cycle.

For real. I mean people who work in fast food have to deal with morons all the time. People who work for the utility companies, cable companies, etc have to deal with irate folks all the time, and if they were to call the cops because said customer was screaming or cursing, there’s nothing the police can do. Yet, if same ass decides to scream or curse at the cop, they get arrested, shouldn’t they already know dealing with the public is trying and that they need to develop thicker skin than even politicians?
