Automated Tattoo Machine Picks Your Religion

Posted by JacobSloan on April 13, 2011

Auto-Ink-31Torn over which faith is the true path to follow? Strap yourself in and receive a “randomly” (i.e. divinely) selected tattoo of a religious symbol on your forearm. Via Make Magazine:

Chris Eckert created a CNC tattoo machine with a twist. Auto Ink is a three axis numerically controlled sculpture. Once the main switch is triggered, the operator is assigned a religion and it’s corresponding symbol is tattooed onto the person’s arm. The operator does not have control over the assigned symbol. It is assigned either randomly or through divine intervention, depending on your personal beliefs.

I would hope it does not give the Star of David as the irony would sting a bit.

I’d try this but if I got a swastika I’d have to smash the machine and punch its creator in the face.

Hate to be negative, as much as I love the idea, what if this machine malfunctioned?, three axis?, so up and down too?, it’d rip your fucking arm off, just saying……

A swastika is a religious symbol in both Hinduism and Buddhism, and has been used in those religions for thousands of years. http://www.religionfacts.com/hinduism/symbols/swastika.htm

Does it have the Rasta lion or the “Bob” head?

  • Qwerty

I do the same, if I got a star of David

  • Bizcotti

That’s sooo wrong… in a Wingdings font sort of way.

I’d certainly hope it has three-axis operation. Your arm is three-dimensional, is it not? If it just worked on a level plane, you’d either end up with a portion of a tattoo where it attempted to draw in thin air or it would pierce far too deep on the thick areas and give you blood poisoning… in fact, it could pretty easily do both.

as a tattoo artist i should hope the mutherfucker that made this shit now has an entire industry of ppl mad at his ass

strap yourself in and find out

This would not work for two reasons… (1) there is nothing helping the machine stretch the skin and (2) the humans ability to have compassion is ONE of the only things that keep us tattoo artist in business… that thing just looks painful.
