why iyam what iyam (right wing)
by Todd Brendan Fahey (fargone@fargonebooks.com) - November 26, 2000
Having caught the expected lot of shit for my recent post to Disinfo.com, in Votescam ("The Slow, Sad Sinking of the USS Republic"), I'll now respond to the plethora of complaints in receipt(which included two bonafide e-death threats to my Far Gone Books guest book; I chuckled).

The bulwark of criticism seemed to come from persons from the UK, concerning my assertion that those persons who voted for Al Gore are primarily those who receive federal entitlements (welfare) or are otherwise receiving federal entitlements via being employed by the Federal Gubm't (military excepted, who, when allowed to receive their absentee ballots, vote 3-1 Republican, probably, I'm guessing, because they actually have to work for their paycheck). And I know it's a tough thing for some to swallow, that the Democrat party actually exists for to redistribute wealth from earners to non-earners, but that is the reality. The Democrat party is the predominant party of Socialism (look: subtract from our Republic Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson, and we would not be saddled with the Social Security System, the Federal Reserve System, the "progressive income tax," which is the 10th plank in Marx's Communist Manifesto, and other redistribution measures, and hardworking folk, of every race, color and creed, would be able to retain and invest 60% more of their tax dollars than they do currently).

That America is not a harbinger of socialism should be of comfort to those who hunger for a choice in this, the "Global Community." For that, we have Great Britain and Australia and Sweden. If socialism is what you want, by all means, please book a flight. (Really. We sophisticated cybernauts bitch about not having enough choices amongst software vendors, what with the monopoly on bad-tech that is Microsoft, and still there would be those who insist that the US should follow the way that has been abandoned by the the nations that comprise the USSR and its satellites, Cuba and North Korea excepted?; ignr'nt.)

That my comments appeared to some to be racist is unfortunate. But, again, the truth hurts. Take a look at CNN's Presidential map, county-by-county, and you'll see what I see: that the ONLY counties in the USofA which cast majority votes for Albert Gore, Jr., are also those which house the bulk of the nation's blacks and Hispanics. Slice it any way you wish, but there is no escaping the camera eye. That blacks and Hispanics have been suckered into the illusion that Big Daddy Gubm't can provide for them all of their needs is very unfortunate; I wish it weren't so, but it is (as the map proves). There are rare exceptions, and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, GOP Presidential candidate Alan Keyes, economists Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell are the highlights (oh, but I forget, to most of my fellow Disinfonauts, these guys are step'n'fetchit-style Uncle Toms, just not hip, deluded by Christian theory . . . whatever: these wise men of African extraction are also vigorous opponents of censorship and might be our best hope where concerns the decriminalization of marijuana, but don't let me bother you with details).

Lastly, as I'm growing bored with needing to inscribe this reparte into a rented machine in Bangkok, when I could be back at mine abode, puffing a phatty (what do you take me for, a Puritan?; I am, after all, the Acid Novelist), I'll leave you with one thought: Before casting your ballot again, may you consider what it is you desire (I'm inferring that I'm not too different from most purveyors of Disinfo.com):

1) The freedom to speak freely, over whatever medium.

2) The freedom to fuck whichever willing adult partner it is you'd choose.

3) The luxury of keeping most of your tax dollars, save for those the Constitution has deemed necessary for the preservation of this Republic (essential military functions, italics mine; a judicial system for remedy of wrongs, et al.)

4) And, finally, the peace of mind that comes with knowing, at the end of a hard days' work, you might be able to kick back on the hammock and spark a doob, shoot some Ketamine or gobble some stinky psilocybin.

5) And for those of you who are pro-abortion: Fuck you. Maybe your mother made the wrong choice. I'm glad mine didn't. & mebbe you should consider why Ken Kesey believes also that abortion is a "karmic bummer."

Am I wrong. Fuck no, I'm not. You, we, should be voting Libertarian. I did, until this past election--three of the last four Presidential elections, I cast my vote on principle for Andre Marrou and Ron Paul--but because I don't aspire that our nation might follow in the tradition of the Beijing Kuomintong, I opted this year for George W. Bush. I frankly believe that the GOP, far more than the Democrat party, will safeguard a free Internet and will continue to fight for lower taxes. On the rest of the score, hey, we're fighting an uphill battle. Grow your own, hope you don't get caught, and wear that raincoat girls & Queers, it's up to you (I'm in Bangkok, a straight man, but I know of what I speak).

You're looking at a guy whom Timothy Leary considered a friend; who has hung with R.U. Sirius at San Francisco's O'Farrell Theatre (which Hunter called "the Carnegie Hall of Public Sex in America"); and who has interviewed and considers Ken Kesey, Robert Anton Wilson and John Perry Barlow among the greatest luminaries of this fin de siecle.

You'd rather have me--and those rare, Libertarian-leaning Republicans--on your side than ag'in ya, when the sun sets.
Of that much, I'm sure.
