space migration
by Alex Burns (alex@disinfo.com) - August 01, 2001
It is our destiny to colonize space.
~~ Marshall Savage

Space Migration memes were popularized in the late 1970s by Timothy Leary, Paul Kantner, Stewart Brand, Gerard K. O'Neill, and George Lucas.

Sociopolitical fallout from the 1986 Challenger space shuttle disaster, Cold War geopolitical pressures, and Strategic Defense Initiative (Star Wars) defense policies effectively crippled the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), leading to the growth of the commercial space industry during the early 1990s.

The Road to Heaven beckons . . .
