Richard Dawkins is a brilliant scientist and author whose Darwinian influenced theories about the origin and purpose of life on Earth have garnered a huge amount of attention and praise, resulting in his status as sciences' most recognizable media icon since Carl Sagan. Dawkins has also made a lot of enemies in the process. Spiritually-minded folk object to his strident and unequivical dismissal of religion as fable at best. And many Left leaning politicos feel (wrongly, I think) that his emphasis on genetic encoding as the determining factor in human behavior veers towards fascism. Dawkins has no axe to grind, he's merely interested in facts to the exclusion of sentiment, and as such has no interest in suffering or coddling fools. If he has any agenda at all, it lies in a sincere desire to uncover imformation that will help to optimize human evolution, and thus improve life on the planet for everyone.
