Vince Foster was found shot in the mouth in Fort Marcy Park in Washington, DC, July 1993. Though some who say he shot himself, and that the case is closed, there are still those who are just as convinced that Vince Foster was murdered, and there is an ongoing cover-up.

'Accuracy In Media', a far right-wing group that professes to want, well, accuracy in media, is not known for its impartial reporting. It is one of the only groups still pushing for an investigation to be reopened into the Foster death, insisting nearly seven years after the death that there has been a continuing cover-up. Holding a press conference in Washington DC that was televised nationwide in the US (January 2000), the folks from AIM drew attention to the fact that an appeals court had ordered the unsealing of a previously secret report contesting the official findings of suicide that was being ignored by the nation's press.

Filed June 23rd 1999 with the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Colombia Circuit, Special Division for Appointing Independent Counsels, in 're: Madison Guarantee Savings and Loan Association (Whitewater)', the 511 page report by Patrick Knowlton was ordered unsealed by a three judge panel on September 14th 1999. In it Knowlton goes over the myriad evidence that a cover-up has taken place, perpetrated by the FBI, and Ken Starr. Knowlton was a witness at the death scene who found that his testimony had been changed by the FBI.

Another who insists that there was something wrong with the conclusions of the official government investigations is ace investigative reporter Christopher Ruddy, who wrote scores of articles for the 'Pittsburgh Tribune-Review' on the Foster case. He has compiled a list of at least sixty problems with the official findings, which to a layperson seem to be more than enough reasons to once more reopen this case.

There was no bullet ever found, though the FBI did find at least twelve other slugs of unknown origin on the embankment where Foster was found dead. The FBI, nor the Park Police, who were ostensibly in charge of the first official investigation, which lasted seventeen days, were able to find the bullet that killed Foster. There was little damage to Foster's mouth, which had just had a .38 caliber revolver fired inside of it, which had apparently, according to the official findings, flown out of his mouth to end up still in his hand at his side on the ground, all without breaking or tearing his lips or teeth. Foster's body was laid out neatly on its back as "though for a funeral," witnesses first on the scene testified. His glasses had somehow flown nineteen feet from his face, in the opposite direction as the apparent shot that killed him. Foster's car keys were not found in his pocket at Ft. Marcy Park when first searched, but were subsequently found in his front pocket, along with another key ring with a special security key on it, in the morgue later that evening.

Almost all the photographic evidence is either lost or destroyed. All of the x-rays have either disappeared, or were never taken, contrary to the official autopsy report. These are among the many discrepancies in this case.

There are those who insist that Foster shot himself, and that may be, but until all these anomalies in the official findings are explained, until the glaring discrepancies between the various official reports are defined in a coherent manner, this is an unsolved mystery that may just be an unsolved murder.

Just because I don't like the messenger much, does not mean I am not willing to at least check out the information. Just remember, these guys ran an article a couple years back by Joe Goulden saying that Gary Webb's 'Dark Alliance' series was malarkey, completely ignoring the fact that the CIA themselves wound up not only verifying most of it, they went ahead and admitted, in Congress, working with many more drug traffickers than the Webb story ever alleged. Still, give them a chance, as they seem to be onto something here with the Foster case.

Vince Foster Medical Report Withheld
According to this World Net News article (January, 2000), an attorney who filed a Freedom of Information Act request to see the original two page medical report with contradictory gunshot wounds described on each of the two pages was denied to chance to view the report.
