greg bishop
by Alex Burns (alex@disinfo.com) - December 16, 2000
Since its founding in 1993, The Excluded Middle has become a popular zine exploring UFOlogy, Forteana, conspiracy and psychedelic worldviews. Editor Greg Bishop has gone far beyond stories about Nikola Tesla and Wilhelm Reich to publish Cabbalistic analyses of Dr. Seuss poems and unearth historical data relating to early UFO contactees. Bishop is a leading exponent of 'Both-And' logic in a predominantly 'Either/Or' world.

In an arena where most researchers are highly individualistic and work alone, Bishop has proven to be a team player. He has co-written articles for Fortean Times with Kenn Thomas, publicly defended academic Jodi Dean against critics, received rave reviews for his appearance at the Death Equinox festival, and written many articles for Robert Sterling's web-site The Konformist. Bishop's non-fiction writing has appeared in Magical Blend, UFO Magazine, The Nose, Crash Collusion, and Book Happy. He has also been featured in Donna Kossy's Kooks: A Guide to the Outer Limits of Human Belief (Feral House, 1994) and the anthology Zen in the Art of Close Encounters: Crazy Wisdom and UFOs (New Being Project, 1995), edited by Paul David Pursglove.

In other guises, Bishop has seized the airwaves as a DJ on the Los Angeles pirate station KBLT. Bishop has been forced to maintain this complex shape-shifting identity since uncovering very persuasive evidence that Church of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard stole his key ideas and techniques from Aleister Crowley and Alfred Korzybski.

With co-writer Gerry Vassilatos, Bishop is author of Lost Science (Adventures Unlimited Press, 2000) and Wake Up Down There! The Excluded Middle Anthology (Adventures Unlimited Press, 2000).

Ethnic Weapons for Ethnic Cleansing
This frightening Konformist.com article by Greg Bishop (December 1998) outlines some of the research undertaken by assorted mad-scientist maniacs in the interest of developing race specific weaponry. Bishop reminds the reader this is not a "new" science, that in 1970 Carl Larson published work on using enzymes to attack one race or another. The scientists even discussed ways of reeducating enemy populations using psycho-chemicals to turn them into slaves. That was over 31 years ago. Wonder what viruses they've cooked up since? Have they let any loose, and how many have escaped?

The Excluded Middle Magazine
The official Web site for The Excluded Middle, one of the most interesting conspiriology and weird culture zines, founded in 1993.
