| Is 16th century French mystic Nostradamus an important spiritual figure or merely the Criswell of his time (albeit a lot more prolific)? Hard to say, because for every prediction that seems uncannily accurate, there are dozens and dozens more that have never come to pass. The difficulty in evaluating the accuracy of Nostradamus's predictions lies in the fact that they are quite literally subject to interpretation. Originally written in a melange of old French, Greek, Italian, and Latin, with the time sequences deliberately mixed up to avoid prosecution for witchcraft, the verses, or quatrains, are also heavily laden with metaphors. So it's not uncommon for several 'experts' to have wildly different interpretations of the same prophecy. Even so, Nostradamus is still a fascinating character and our choice for Psychic Friend #1, 'cause even when he's wrong, it's usually about something kinda interesting. | ||||
