"BANGKOK (AP)--Myanmar's military rulers have assured neighboring Thailand that the detention of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi would be temporary and that the junta remains committed to national reconciliation, the Thai foreign minister said Thursday."The Nobel Peace Prize laureate and 19 of her party members were taken into "protective custody" last week after a clash between her supporters and pro-junta supporters in northern Myanmar. The junta says four people died, though dissident groups abroad fear the toll may be as high as 70.
