Posted by majestic on September 20, 2011

Conspiracy Theory with Jesse VenturaLike him or loathe him, Jesse Ventura has achieved the mostly impossible: giving national TV airtime to conspiracy theories (of the unofficial variety). TVByTheNumbers regurgitates the press release that a third season of conspiracies is coming soon, with Jesse’s son and Oliver Stone’s son joining the team:

If there’s an urban legend or Conspiracy Theory out there, Jesse Ventura is determined to get to the bottom of it. The soldier, wrestler, politician and best-selling author is hitting the road for the third season of truTV’s hit series Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura. The new season promises even more mystery and mayhem as the rebel and freethinker investigates secrets “they” don’t want people to know. Upping the ante against alleged cover-ups, Jesse and veteran team member June Sarpong will be joined by a “new generation” of conspiracy busters: Jesse’s own son, Tyrel Ventura, and Sean Stone, son of controversial Oscar®-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone…

Hands Off “The Body”: Jesse Ventura Sues The TSA

Posted by ralph on January 25, 2011

Jesse "The Body" Ventura“The Body” wants Homeland Security and its tag team partner TSA to step into the ring. Caroline Black reports on CBS News’ Crimesider:

Jesse Ventura, former Minnesota governor and professional wrestler, sued the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration Monday, claiming full-body scans and pat-down at airport checkpoints violate his right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures.

Ventura who was known as “The Body” during his tenure as a wrestler is asking a federal judge in Minnesota to issue an injunction ordering officials to stop subjecting his body to “warrantless and suspicionless” scans and searches.

Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security Secretary, and John Pistole, TSA Administrator, are named as defendants in the lawsuit which argues that searches are “unwarranted and unreasonable intrusions on Governor Ventura’s personal privacy and dignity and are a justifiable cause for him to be concerned for his personal health and well-being.”

Huffington Post Blogger Guidelines Now Not Anti-Conspiracy Theory?

Posted by Tyler Bass on April 8, 2010

I woke up this morning to read an e-mail from Maureen Gummert’s mailing list, one in which the author was exceedingly glad that The Huffington Post was publishing an editorial by Sander Hicks about the Vatican child sexual abuse scandal.

Sander Hicks has created a story about the Vatican sex scandal and has done a brilliant job at linking it to the Franklin Credit Union scandal.  The story posted yesterday 4/6/2010 at The Huffington Post….this is a huge breakthrough.

Huffington Post is exactly the mainstream media exposure we have hoped for.  Nick Bryant has worked tirelessly to assure the world finds out about what happened to so many victims.

Please take some time to read Sander’s story and please consider writing a comment.  We need to do everything we can to keep this story in the forefront on The Huffington Post.

To vigilant readers of this website, the Franklin Trust sexual abuse scandal is hardly news.…

Enjoy the video — we’ll post some extra clips where we talk off the record about everything from surfing to rock & roll … soon!

Only Some Conspiracy Theories Welcome at Huffington Post

Posted by ralph on March 10, 2010

Have to agree, the Huffington Post loves to embrace all sort of crazy pseudoscientific theories about your health, but has a problem with this post from Jesse Ventura. (You can read the Ventura post on InfoWars.) Alex Pareene writes on Gawker:

The Huffington Post removed a 9/11 “Truther” post from former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura. According to their editor’s note, “The Huffington Post’s editorial policy, laid out in our blogger guidelines, prohibits the promotion and promulgation of conspiracy theories….” Oh, really?

Ventura'sHuffington Post Removal

Because today, the very same Huffington Post published this wonderful post from dangerous nutcase Jenny McCarthy about how autism is caused by vaccines and can be cured with experimental treatments that the established medical community doesn’t want you to know about. We can only assume that as soon as the editors discover this conspiratorial nonsense, they will promptly remove it.

The fun thing about Jenny McCarthy’s conspiracy is that if it catches on enough, it will literally lead to the death of children. Trutherism just makes you really annoying!

It’s not only Huffington Post who gives the former Playboy playmate lip service, ABC News was willing to seek a medical opinion from her. Even if you disagree with Ventura’s claims on 9/11 (and I am in that camp), Ventura is not saying he is qualified to dispense an engineering analysis, or even claiming he is 100% right about his conclusions.

Jesse Ventura Body Slams TV Ratings With ‘Conspiracy Theory’

Posted by ralph on February 2, 2010

Conspiracy Theory with Jesse VenturaDaniela Perdomo writes on Alternet:

Jesse Ventura has worn many hats over his lifetime. In addition to being a body-slamming professional wrestler and one-term governor of Minnesota, he was a Navy SEAL in Vietnam and a bodyguard for the Rolling Stones. In his latest career move, he is a conspiracy theory investigator.

His television show, Conspiracy Theory With Jesse Ventura, premiered on TruTV in early December delivering the 17-year-old channel’s largest-ever premiere audience — 1.6 million people — and maintaining it during subsequent episodes. It held onto high Nielsen ratings despite being panned by critics because the masses love it. TruTV’s slogan is “Not Reality. Actuality.” This is a baffling mantra, but it’s the perfect place for a show like Ventura’s.

“We developed it for our audience,” one that is “usually fascinated with inside worlds they don’t normally have access to,” said Darren Campo, senior vice president of programming at the channel. But…

Jesse Ventura Wins Prize For Most Alarming 2012 Fearmongering

Posted by majestic on January 15, 2010

As the producer of the documentary film 2012: Science or Superstition (and editor of the book of the same title), I’ve watched more or less all the various TV specials, wacky docs and of course the Hollywood blockbuster from Roland Emmerich … not to mention my ever-expanding library of 50+ 2012-themed books. As a result I think I’m as well-qualified as anyone to name the disinformation® winner for best 2012 fearmongering: Jesse Ventura, on his “Conspiracy Theory” cable series. Get a load of this:

Okay, there’s no real prize, but Jesse, if you’d like someone to provide some balance to the doomsday madness of Patrick Geryl or the supposedly scientific scariness of Larry Joseph, you know where to find us.

MSNBC Cancelled Jesse Ventura For His Opposition To War In Iraq

Posted by majestic on December 1, 2009

Steve Watson for InfoWars:

Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura has revealed that he was effectively silenced for three years by MSNBC when the network cancelled his show in 2003 after learning that Ventura opposed the war in Iraq.

Ventura began the MSNBC show, Jesse Ventura’s America, in October 2003.

The show was originally planned to run five nights a week, but MSNBC executives suddenly changed their minds and it was only broadcast once a week, on Saturdays, before being ditched altogether.

The ex-Navy SEAL has now told the LA Times that he was forced out of the network and prevented from appearing on any other cable TV or news shows.

“It was awful. I was basically silenced.” Ventura comments in the interview.

“When I came out of office, I was the hottest commodity out there. There was a bidding war between CNN, Fox and MSNBC to get my services. MSNBC ultimately won. I was being groomed…
