The LDS ‘Do Not Baptize’ List
Below is an open letter to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon), but first watch this:
The recent, and flagrant, disregard of the wishes of the families, and peoples, of the deceased by the Mormon Church is cause for great alarm. These baptisms can be performed on anyone with or without their living permission, and although certain people are supposedly exempt, for instance Jews who died in the Holocaust, the wishes of the dead and their families are still being violated by the Church. This practice is troublesome and must be ended…
U.S. Ponzi Scheme Targeted Mormons
Reports the AP via Google News:
US financial regulators charged a father and son in Utah state with operating a $220 million property investment Ponzi scheme which targeted fellow members of the Mormon church.
The Securities and Exchange Commission charged Wendell Jacobson and his son Allen Jacobson, of Fountain Green in central Utah, with selling shares in their purported real estate business and using the funds from some investors to pay returns promised to others.
It said that since 2008 the two had solicited investments into their business of ostensibly buying, rehabilitating and then renting out properties.
They appeared to use the memberships in the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints — the Mormon church — “to make connections and win over the trust of prospective investors,” the SEC said.
Securities in their businesses were sold to investors without registering with the SEC as required by law.
Psst: Romney Is A Mormon
Now you may think this headline is stating the obvious, but actually less than half of Americans have any idea that he’s a moron Mormon according to the Washington Post:
Less than half of Americans know that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is a Mormon, despite recent media attention focused on his faith, a new survey shows.
Just four in 10 Americans — 42 percent — identified the former Massachusetts governor as a Mormon, according to the Washington-based Public Religion Research Institute. That figure remains unchanged from July 2011, despite a flurry of media attention after an evangelical supporter of another GOP candidate, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, called Romney’s religion a “cult.”
The only group that showed an increased knowledge about Romney’s religion was white evangelicals, whose knowledge of Romney’s faith rose from 44 percent in July to 53 percent in mid-October…

Bill Maher Interviews Controversial Pastor Robert Jeffress (Video)
Rick Perry-supporting Baptist Pastor Robert Jeffress was in the news recently for calling Mormonism a cult and Bill Maher, for once, is without his usual snark to a man of the cloth:
LDS Church Builds Replica Of Jerusalem In Utah Desert
The biblical-era city of Jerusalem has been rebuilt in the middle Utah, courtesy of the Mormon Church. “Jerusalem West” (as I call it) will be used for movies, educational tours and pilgrimages, and, presumably, as a crash pad when Jesus eventually returns to Earth. The Salt Lake Tribune writes:
He’ll turn water into wine. He’ll heal a lame man at the pool of Bethesda. And he — the actor slated to play Jesus Christ — will do it all in rural Utah.
A thick, gnarled fake olive tree, for Jesus to pray beside, sits at the end of a pathway in the replicated Garden of Gethsemane. Large, faux stone walls line a maze of city streets, crafted to look rough and weather-beaten. A dozen heavy steps lead up to Solomon’s Porch outside the Temple complex, which will be filled with 30-foot-high columns mimicking the actual 100-foot ones that stood in the ancient city.

Stop! Mormon Time!
The MC Hammer mash-up of one of my all-time favourite Tube finds: the infamous and frequently taken down ‘Banned Mormon Cartoon’:
(h/t to Ectoplasmosis)
It works on so many levels: there’s the layer upon layer of questionable taste, to be sure, but it also nails the near-Docetic Christology of the LDS. It turn out that you really can’t touch – MORMON JESUS!
And it seems Mitt Romney could say the same about his bid for the White House …
Just Say No To Freedom Of Religion

The inimitable Christopher Hitchens says the taming and domestication of religious faith is one of the unceasing chores of civilization, at Slate:
A recent blizzard of liberal columns has framed the debate over American Islam as if it were no more than the most recent stage in the glorious history of our religious tolerance. This phrasing of the question has the (presumably intentional) effect of marginalizing doubts and of lumping any doubters with the anti-Catholic Know-Nothings, the anti-Semites, and other bigots and shellbacks. So I pause to take part in a thought experiment, and to ask myself: Am I in favor of the untrammeled “free exercise of religion”?
No, I am not. Take an example close at hand, the absurdly named Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. More usually known as the Mormon church, it can boast Glenn Beck as one of its recruits. He has…
Glenn Beck: The New Messiah? Palin Running Mate? Or What?
You have to hand it to him — Glenn Beck has come a long way from his humble cable TV and radio origins, taking Washington by storm today. What should we make of him? Is he a racist? Does he want to be President? What’s his relationship with Sarah Palin about? The Mormon thing?
Banned Mormon Cartoon?
I can see why this might be disowned by the Powers That Be. Pretty entertaining stuff.
